I just got my first AB800 in the mail today (yeah!!) i'm stoked about using it. I realize my XTI does not have the pc connection but my 580EX II does so i figured i can plug it into there (yeah i probably should have done my research first) but now i'm thinking i actually need to get the AB remote thing-y (like my technical jargon?!). and I know without the cord i can trigger my AB800 but i don't think it's syncing up right. Is it possible to run the AB800 with the cord and the equipment i have????

thanks for your help!

yes they have an optical slave. unfortunately that means you have to fire the built in flash or the 580EX

You could turn your 580 flash around and fire it away from your subjects. That will help or dial the flash compensation down and use it as the "main" or key light. You can also go to flashzebra.com click HERE (external link) for some useful adapters. They aren't expensive and shipping is cheap.

Get either of the hotshoe adapters below to trigger your AB strobe via the PC sync cable:

I use the cheap Cactus Radio trigger with my AB lights...and it works like a charm.

I got the Nikon adaptor, due to the screwlock facility on it...
