Welcome JEC! We do need to get together. The weather has been awesome (last 24 hours not withstanding).

Congrats on the new kit Kevin's! Very nice...how linear is the Sigma 10-20? I'm still in awe of the 5D/14L II combo Canon handed me at the Grand Canyon. Other Kevin, the 300 ROCKS! I actually finally got my 580EX II. I really like it so far but it's another world of learning for DSLR.

GenzBenz: what soft box sizes/shape? I'm trying to learn more all the time and enhanced lighting is where I'm focusing lately. Had a great time with Joe at Lookout Joe's for starving artist night a couple of Thursday's ago. Strobist type work seems to be my path as of late :). Speaking of that, I need to PP those shots. Yikes, time flies by.

I might be persuaded to go to a Monday night butterfly show as it seems I get a lot of Monday's off like today. Might head out and get some moody weather shots, need to find some covered bridges and start driving toward them.

Sounds like some photo activity going on and that's a good thing!

It's a pair of 24" x 32" softboxes with the inner baffle. I bought two Calumet Genesis 200 Softbox Kit (external link)s (which include the soft boxes) and a set of wireless triggers (external link) for somewhere in the range of $580. I plug the wireless receiver into one of the lights, and set the other one as an optical slave. I have a cheap shoot-through umbrella from a crappy constant light kit that I played with a bit. The umbrella spills a lot more light in the room, whereas the softbox is more focused. I haven't been able to take them onto a shoot yet, but am hoping to do so soon. Last week, I stopped by Ritz in Kenwood and for $129, I got a background stand with a 53" roll of seamless white paper. Then, I hopped to Cord's Kenwood store and picked up a roll of 107" seamless white for $45. I'm waiting to get to my next shoot! Another local band is wanting me to shoot them soon, but we haven't set a date yet. I'm totally new to lighting, but working with my 430EX II and a 40" diffuser can only take me so far!

That sounds like a bunch of crap to me.

There have been a lot of Tri-State connection to Undercover Boss. Churchill Downs, Newport Aquarium (it's parent company), White Castle, Roto-Rooter, GSI Commerce.

And let's not forget WM. I worked there as a senior credit analyst in their second largest location in Phoenix :). So that's a local connection, well sort of.

:D

Indeed. I should be in it for a 1/2 second near the end in the crowd at the reveal moment. I'm standing around some short people (not by design) so I might make a VERY BRIEF national television debut.

Gotta love Sharon Woods. Can walk there from my house (back trail) but never do. Always there with the kids, so that would put us a long way from all the stuff they want to do. I'm sure it was good...and my guess busy.

The kids area was busy when we went by it. The trails were not all that busy though. Quite enjoyable.
