Thanks for the reply, and a good suggestion. I try to do this as much as possible but unfortunately I don't always have much time so was looking for some more specific places to get lost at.

What type of photography are you doing? Might make it a little bit easier for suggestions.

I know that strollers are fine for the Conservatory itself. I am sure that it is fine for the show as well. You could call them at 513.421.5707 and make sure.

Thank you. I rented an 85L this week just for fun. Was thinking about trying it out there. The colors are excellent, but the focusing is slow. I had to adjust it quite a bit on my 50D.

I am from Hamilton just north of Cincinnati and was wondering if anyone had suggestions for some interesting places to shoot.
I have been to most of the known areas such as the parks and downtown and like to take pictures in lesser know areas so thought I would ask here for suggestions.

Thanks

I'm from the Hamilton area as well and am always looking for something fun to shoot. There's an interesting tobacco barn at the intersection of Princeton Rd. and Liberty-Fairfield Rd. There is a little parking area on site just off of Princeton Rd near the little windmill. There's also an interesting sculpture park called Pyramid Hill off of 128 just south of Hamilton that can be interesting if you like sculpture.

Last week, I was down near Harrison and Rybolt Rds, and I came all the way up East River Rd, and there was a nice OH bicentennial barn just north of the south end. Sadly, I didn't have the camera with me!

If you like architecture, go take a tour of the Lane-Hooven House on 3rd st. (north of High St.) It's an old octagon-shaped mansion that has a gorgeous interior. The spiral staircase is worth several pictures. I believe that they have self-guided tours during the day.

If I can think of anything else, I'll let you know! I'm in Savannah, GA today (with camera in hand!) so I got a little Georgia on my mind!

Happy Shooting!

Sorry I've been MIA...just working away here. I did made a trek back up to NW Iowa for my Dad's 80th a few weeks ago. Was loads of fun, got a few nice shots of my parents and plenty of family at the party. Otherwise not much local shooting :( Wanted to do the butterfly show again but my schedule stinks. Great suggestions for Hamilton area, I'm up in between Liberty and Fairfield Townships. GenzBenz, what is the story of that cabin? I've driven by many times and have always wondered.

I'm not 100% sure on the story of the cabin (especially the history of it), but the tobacco barn is home to a horse and a couple of donkeys and they have a little parking area. I think they have a little coin-op machine to get food for you to feed the animals. There are a couple of signs there that tell you some history behind the place. In addition to the barn, there's that cabin that I thought was kind of cool, and a little windmill.
