I wanted to make this dull photo to pop up a bit.

Before:

After:
IMAGE NOT FOUND

>levelled the horizont in Lightroom
>used the adjustment brush and Gradient filter in CS4 Camera RAW to change exposure and color on the sea, town and sky
>Cloned out the lens flare
>added the frame and copyright, resized

What do you think? What could I have done better or in different way? What else would you do?

That's night and day, way better. I'd crop off another 15% at the right probably, to balance things a little.

I personally think the water is overdone but that's me. The water is consideraby brighter than the rest of the scene which is not believable. Almost like ligted from below, like a swimming pool.

It comes down to personal taste.

The image is not believable.

I agree that the water is overdone to the point of not believable.

Here is the direction I might take the shot if it were mine. This is your edited shot, dropped on top of your OOC shot, and then some of the water is erased away. Makes it kind of a blend of the two.

I think that is retains some of the unusual beauty of your edit, but keeps it real enough for the viewer to believe that it really looked like that.

Nice shot. I would make it more of a night scene and pull more detail out of the shadows in the city.

+1 to Peano's version.

The original edit would be okay if the water wasn't so purple.

I like Peano's version.

I just noticed that the water actually looks more like sky/clouds than water.

Yes, that's what I thought. I should have made it a bit darker. Thanks for the opinion.

Nice, thanks for the tip. It does look more real! You do this with layers? I'm new to Photoshop so go easy on me.:D

I too, like Peano's version I was going to say try cropping out the rocks in the foreground & see what that looks like but darker works for me. I was distracted by them in the lighter version.
