Egret in flight.

This was at a nature refuge in San Jose. I am beginning to fall in love with bird photography as the days pass. It is the most challenging type of shooting i have attempted.

In sports the action will come to you, and the athletes don't fly away when they see you coming!

I know how hard it is to catch one focused, in frame, in some semblance of an interesting position and a good background. Do you mind sharing the gear and settings info?

It was a 400 5.6 on a Mark III.

1/800 f6.3 iso 800. I shot in Manual which was way better than the results in AV. I still blew out the whites but I am getting better.
