I have my camera set to highest and second highest quality, but when I open the photos in photoshop the resolution is 180..

What do I need to do to get the pictures to come in at 300 dpi? I thought by setting the camera to its highest quality the pictures will come in at 300 dpi..

I've looked at the setting to see if you can set it at 300, but I didn't find a menu setting. If there's a way I would appreciate it if for any info on this issue..

Thanks

Most cameras download at 72, the 300D does 180, you can't change it in the camera. Change the resolution in PS to 300 if that's what you want, make certain resample is not checked.

DPI is meaningless until you commit the picture to paper. It doesnt matter what it is set to. It will not make a differance in camera or displayed on a monitor.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

As John says, that DPI figure means nothing, and anyway it should be pixels per inch, not dots per inch. My printer is fixed at 1000 dots per inch (it's old), many are 2000 DPI or more.

Your Rebel delivers a 3072 X 2048 pixel image. If you want a 300 PPI print then make the print 10.24 X 6.83 inches. A smaller print will have greater than 300 PPI.

That's all there is to it.

Yup. Just try to forget that the "DPI" number is even in the file coming from the camera. It is absolutely meaningless.
