You guys are going to make me have to get this lens! I see it as possibly being the perfect all-in-one vacation lens.

Here is one more:
This had been edited and high pass filter applied on separate layer to soften highlights.

I purchased this lens last month -- here's a shot I took with it at Pismo Beach, CA.

I had used the 55-250 before changing to the 18-270 because I did not want to keep changing lenses for wide and zoom. I think the picture quality is better but I did change camera too so maybe that has something to do with it. I used the 55-250 with the XS and the 18-270 with the 50D =/

you think so? but why do people bash the superzooms and love the 55-250 if that's the case? i bet most people who hates superzoom lenses haven't really used them i guess.

Since this lens is really OK for me..i find it difficult to justify buying more expensive lenses except for the lenses in my wishlist hahaha...

I guess with most superzoom lenses, they're not that fast and not so good in low light as those higher end ones. For me, I like both the 55-250 and 18-270 but maybe it's because I used the 18-270 on the 50D the pictures came out sharper/clearer? I should have tried the 55-250 on the 50D to compare but I sold it along with my XS right after I got the 50D lol But whatever, I don't care what people say, the 18-270 is such a convenient lens =)

This lens is an absolute GOLD!! the only drawback is the max aperture, and not as sharp as zoom, other than that, perfect
