wow...and that's coming from a person with both the 70-200mm f/2.8L and 24-70 f/2.8L :)

OK I should have been clearer :)

What I meant was, If I have to go somewhere on holiday, I will take either my 7D or 40D, and this lens, and never think twice about carrying my other lenses, because this lens is so good - I even take this lens on my 7D with me on my daily commute, and only use my other ones for proper shoots

Well, just ordered this lens for my Nikon D200....I'm so excited. Was debating between this lens and the Nikon 55-200MM....but between the $30 Bing Cashback deal and the new $80 rebate from Tamron, the price comes out to $490 which I just couldn't pass up for this well reviewed lens. Also, the pics posted here assisted in my decision. Going to sell my 17-55mm kit lens to further help in offsetting some of the price. Thanks!!

Oh, and this is my first time posting on this forum and I look forward to hanging around here and learning from you all :)

It was quite convenient having this lens as I did not have to change lenses all the time =D Most of the pics I took were at 270mm majority of the time. Pictures came out pretty soft but still seems really good. Only PP I did was adjust the contrast and sharpen some of them. Some of the pics were untouched.

yeah, these are the kind of pics I use mine for also. I've taken probably 15,000 pictures with my Tamron, thousands on vacation in Hungary and Germany. The only other lens I have in my small bag is the nifty fifty in case I need a fast lens in very low light.
Sometimes the "sell a lens and buy something new" bug bites me but then I always think about the convenience of this lens and the fact that I feel uncomfortable taking my whole lens collection overseas on vacation (hassle on the flight, questionable customs regulations in Hungary regarding value of items entering the country, etc.). So as long as I'm flying somewhere on vacation pretty much this and the nifty fifty are the only lenses I'm taking with me, and most often my less expensive body.

Here's a couple shots I took with this lens today in Newport Beach. I bought it recently to replace an older Tamron 18-250mm and I'm really happy with it!

Great All in One Walk Around Lens
I tried the Sigma 18-250mm and it wasn't really as sharp as this lens

Here are some nice shots I was able to get with this 18-270mm VC on a Canon 50D. Most of the shots were taken indoors.

sir gabebalazs, I was just wondering... are you using your 18-270 on your 7D? does it hunt in low light?? I have just read in another thread that it is not the lens that hunts but the body... I am wondering how much does it hunt in a 50D or 7D..

Thats what im thinking.
Anyways the shots i have seen so far from this lens dont look anymore sharper than my 18-55mm none IS kit lens but this lens is more for conveniance than IQ and performance

I recently purchased a Digital Rebel T1i and was looking for an "all-round" lense and then accidently stumbled accross this thread. I can't believe it's been going almost 1 year and 6 months already and people are still posting here :)

Anyways, I eventually bought this lense(Tamron 18-270) "Mostly" because of this thread and the various reviews around the web BUT mostly because of the people posting in this thread. So I just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU to all those folks who have contributed here and especially for the great pics! There are too many to thank personally but I would like to say a special thanks to Gabe.

The weather hasn't been that great here in Armenia for the past few weeks but as soon as it clears up, I also hope to post a few pics to keep this thread alive.

Cheers to ALL!

Rod.

Thinking about buying this lens back lol It's only $519 new with the $80 rebate from Tamron. I miss the convenience of this lens =/
