I'm surprised no one has yet started the discussion on the RED Scarlet released today. From my few posts, many have not have noticed, but I'm not one who upgrades my body frequently. I use what works, always ask for what I "need" to get the job done and have never "wanted"

I now "want" this. My wallet is begging for me to stop looking at these pictures ...

they probably haven't said anything because it's so freakin' complicated looking no one can figure it out.

that thing seriously has so much extra crap to add on or take away and all that you'd never be able to learn how to use it haha.

well, i'd say forget the scarlet. the ff35 and 645 ones look better. higher pixel count than a 1dsmkiii and h3dII. also that huge 186x56mm large format back looks amazing... and 260MP too

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

lol "Oh by thet way ... 3D!"

Those cameras look awesome! And Michael, they are mainly video cameras, not still cameras.

Red has a poor record of producing finished products. There have been long delays in manufacturing cameras, and the first ones released were incomplete at best. Even after hundreds of cameras have finally been delivered, a glance at a forum of Red users shows that there are problems with the camera and its software, (external link) problems that go far beyond anything experienced with a Canon DSLR.

Specifications and Delivery Dates are subject to drastic changes. Count on it and you won't be disappointed.

I see no real way for those two sentences to both be true.

I saw these thing a while ago... ok not computer 3d renderings of camera itself, but some specifications. And based on this, I hardly doubt this will be anywhere near area current photo cameras are in. Red is, and will stay even after Scarlet mainly high end video gear. If nothing else, price is "a little bit" different then 1ds for example ;) So somehow I doubt I will see some PJ carrying Red instead of his 1d anywhere in near future :)

The graceful inconspicuousness…a street photographer's dream come true.

By the way, this is not the vaunted "DSLR killer" is it? This, as noted already, is still aimed more at the video crowd, right?

Well then, owners of Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Olympus, Sony, and such, you may sleep well tonight.

After all, if nothing else, even if the monstrosity displayed (in whatever configuration possible) proved remarkably superior to your current kit, most of you couldn't afford it anyway.

Hey, with that 3D setup, we could all make our own images for those old stereo-3D viewers. Now, who wouldn't want that:)!
