Weight is somewhat of an issue on bad days, on those days I just slap the cheapy 28-105 lens on and go and it's normally fine if I take it very easy. The 200 gets heavy even on good days. I can go out into the yard to shoot birds and have to come in after only 30 minutes of so. Hiking or walks no way could I bring that. I've been trying to get out more, so less is more in that aspect.

I do worry about one day having to downgrade, but I think I'd downgrade to a rebel and keep the 28-105 for light stuff.

One major issue right now is the whole prime vs zoom thing. I really prefer primes in my shooting but lately I've been needing the ease of the zoom. But the zooms are so much heavier I'm not sure what to do. I was going to try the 70-200 f/4 IS and sell the 200, but I'm not sure about the focus speed and missing the 2.8, and there is no way I can handle the 2.8 IS (and yes I'm thinking I'm going to need IS sooner then later on the longer lenses.) I'm thinking of the 24-105, but the one I borrowed I wasn't too happy with. It came very close to my cheap zoom for 90% of the shots I was taking. Plus it weighs a lot more. The 400 I bought I sent back (I live 3 hours from a good camera store) due to the weight. I had tried one two years ago and loved it and couldn't wait to buy it. And now with my back I was so sad to have to send it back! So now I just have to shoot my little birds in my yard. I'd have to say my health is one thing making me think twice about this. But I really want to try to think positive and not worry about that until I need to.

Oh and witht he blu-ray, yeah we have a small HD tv, the digital TV we get from the antenna is a cleaner image then what we get form our DVD player! We would like to upgrade since we do watch a lot of movies, but the good thing is we only own about 20 movies, none of which we'd really consider upgrading. And with the sound system, yeah, we may have to do that at a point, but for now the TV alone is fine since sometimes noise bothers me. I'm pathetic I know! ha ha! I feel like I'm 75 years old!

I was in 3 minds actually ...I have a Rebel XT and I wanted a 2nd body for weddings. I could go either get a used 5d or a new 5d mark II. I really wanted a 5d since prices have dropped so much from the time I got the XT.

The used 5d would have the same issues I currently have with dust on my XT. I really don't want that.

I also wanted both bodies to be similar to each other. If I was using a crop on one, I wanted a crop on the other (so there wouldn't be any surprises since I've to shoot quick). Plus I can take group shots with the 50d (bcos of the bump in MP) so my clients can blow them up.

Ah well the 100mm 2.8 macro will have to wait some more time.

In the end you would want to get something that 'makes sense' to you depending on what you shoot and how you shoot.

yeah it's weird, going digital my preferences have changed too. Once I get the 5d (maybe I will wait longer for the mark II) I'll have to check the 135 out. I really like the images I see coming from that lens.

I never liked the 135FL with film. Digital - different - no idea why at all:eek:

I would wait for the 5D2 if you're buying new - otherwise get the 5D secondhand - mine's going on sale as soon as I can get the mk2 (in case anyone in the UK is reading this;):D)

ps My back is blighted too, I can't carry more than the 5D,and three lenses usually the 50mmf1.4, 90mm TS, 17-40L, - I want to get the 14mm too but it is a worry whether my back will complain to much after a while walking with it

i'm the same boat as u, I kept wanting FF and money isnt really a problem actually but photography is only part of my hobby (and i dunt really shoot much, only few thousands every year). Few days ago i tried my cousin's 5d, my initial impression the viewfinder on 5D is nice, very easy to produce bokeh with it compare to my 1.6x camera, ISO performance also better (but not alot), My conclusion is eventhough its good, the jump isnt really much like from digicam to DSLR.

I suggest try it out urself to see if you need it (or still want it with price difference)

Hi Kristy - I can't comment about the weight because I don't have the other lens for comparison, but I'm wondering if there was something wrong with the 24-105 you auditioned. As I may have mentioned before, mine does some stunning work for me. I've made exhibition prints up to 24x30 with it (scroll down to post #44):

..........Im thinking of the 24-105, but the one I borrowed I wasnt too happy with. It came very close to my cheap zoom for 90 of the shots I was taking. Plus it weighs a lot more. .....

Yeah Ill hold out for cheap blue ray players. I love movies but own few as I dont care to view them over and over. We have a terrific local library system and they carry just about everything in the store. I just go online and order what I need .

Naaaahhhh..... youre not pathetic. You want to see pathetic, check out me and in my neckbrace now. Itll be a little while before I show up at weddings .
