If you notice the props on our left side are in sync. and the ones on the right are pretty darn close. Is this just a coincidence ? Can someone with multi-engine knowledge explain how all that works ?

Dunno, but it'd be really cool if they were all 4 sync'd

Hey Mike,

The engines are not turining at the same RPM but are often close. Remember that with a multi engine setup the A/C pitch / yaw attitude can be controlled with the throttles / and the prop pitch to a lesser extent. The port and starbord engines appear to be about the same but there is no real way to confirm this without the flight engineers assistance.

Often the pilots will "feel" the engines into place - not going by what the gauge says as much as the way the A/C flys and they way it feels his or her's liking.

I used to fly a lot with a DC-3 flyer and he rarely looked at the gauges but knew from experience where the RPM's were for each engine. He could tell you within a few hundred RPM's where each engine was in the power band.

Well, each one of the engines is controlled separately using its own throttle. On top of that, each engine is started separately with its own switch, so they are not started altogether either.
