Nice photo. I was happy to see the grain elevator, as I still have to letter the elevator on my model railroad.

I've been there, but not with snow on the ground. Nice shot.

I see a bit of a halo around the top of the tree. Lovely shot apart from that.

Both the lighting & composition appeal to me.
The lighting is soft and oblique enough to show the snow's texture.
The composition seems balanced.

Do you have a model railroad that incorporates this elevator? This one no longer holds grain, the inside has been gutted and converted to an Art Gallery.

I think I still need to work on the image a bit. There has been some loss of colour/ saturation in the flickr conversion.

I get to see the snow every year, for about 6 months!

I believe you are right, the above picture is the Mile 0 post (which right now has been moved because we put up a Christmas tree). I named the photo Mile 0 because this is the general area of the mile zero.

Thanks for your comment!

Technically, you're both right (... kind of).

The actual "Mile 0" is the traffic circle on 8th St/Alaska Ave, but they keep the Mile 0 post downtown so that fewer tourists get run over trying to have their picture taken on it. And NAR park borders the traffic circle, so Diesel's shot (nice photo, btw) is a little closer to the truth.

Again, nice picture, I love the clear blue skies up there!

lol...this is what I love about this forum. On 99% of internet forum it would have gone like this:

Lowrider: no you dumb **** this is the real Mile 0.
Diesel: shut the **** up, I live here, I know where it is, retard.
Lowrider: your mom.
Diesel: your dad
Billy: your both ass****s

but seriously...good attitudes all around...and the REAL culprit is DC not being able to decide what to call the actual Mile 0 ;) Too bad I didn't know sooner you lived there, would have said hi on one of my trips to/through DC when I lived in Grande Prairie.

Cheers,
-T.
