I like it... I wish my dog would stay still long enough to get a good nose shot

It was actually kinda a "mistake" shot. just sorta happened. After looking back I really like it.

oh yeah, i'd crop the top a tiny bit so you dont see the bottom of his eye socket - then it should look a little more purposeful

I think you're right. I should try it and raise the contrast...its only in jpg unfortunately but the file is large and pretty clean at low iso so i'll see what I can do and repost

Agree about the eye socket, but think it's great shot that works with the DOF.

Now if only my dogs would stop turning their backs to me every time I pull out the camera!

I really like this...

It's like your camera seeing the dog the way the dog sees the world through the fur.

I'd raise the brightness just a tad (not the exposure or you'll blow out the highlights) to give it just a bit more "Ooomph."

Print it, Frame it, Hang it...

This is just my opinion as always but to me, shots of people or critters should always have the eyes (and the eyes should always be sharp). To me shots like this just look like a mistake...dog moved, photographer fell over, etc..

Sorry...not trying to be rude and again this is just my own personal opinion.
