Autofocus can be problematic with IR conversions. Many commercial IR conversions will be optimized for one specific lens.
Probably, the best approach for a camera converted by the photographer or for a camera converted by a company which doesn't specify a specific lens in their conversion is to shoot at f/8 or smaller apertures - preferably f/11 or f/16.
Some of the better manual focus lenses usually had an infrared focusing sale onthe lens barrel. Obviously autofocus lenses don't incorporate IR scales.
