A high res Bird shot taken with a pre production Canon 5DII: http://forums.dpreview.com …rum=1032&message=30056483 (external link)

Focal Length: 1600mm (2x TC extension with I would think a 800mm lens)
ISO: 3200
Shutter: 1/40s

My god...

And here another one showing obscene cropping (who says there's such a thing as too much megapixels?)

actually, in that case, the photographer takes about 99% of the credit. Romy is an amazing photographer with an out of this world long lens technique. :)

That is true. It was interesting reading his technique on getting critical sharpness, very meticulous. Sounds like the slightest of vibrations at such an extreme focal length can ruin the perceived sharpness of the subject. We're seeing a master of his type of photography work new technology to the max.

The picture on Dpreview are scaled down (and compressed, I would think) but there's a picture he linked to at the original resolution...

His downscaling of such a High Res image is giving the perception of sharpness. Even then, the full original frame is pretty impressive when you considered it was taken with a 2x TC Extender.

ohh. so a 21MP file wasnt as large as I thought it would be. I am use to 10MP files and they aren't that much smaller then that (in terms of resolution). the image is quite noisy as well.. but i guess if you scale it down to the same size as a 10MP file it would be much cleaner and detailed.

Phenomenal. Not so much the file as the image itself... that guy's damn good.

Remember, that's ISO3200 @ an extremely large resolution, a pixel peepers wet dream. That's crazy clean for such High ISO and detail was retained fantastically on the bird.
