I just picked up a mint AE-1 film camera with some "soligor 75-205 f3.5" lens and want to know if i can attach an EF lens to it with some kind of adapter or not.

It will go into my slowly growing collection of old cameras, i would love to put a roll of film in and use it for fun.

Camera gear: 40D, 350D Gripped, AE-1 Program, 70-200mm f/4L, Tokina 12-24mm, Thrifty Fifty 1.8, 75-205 3.5-5.6 macro, 28mm 2.8, 188A, 430EX, Nikon Sb-28, Skyport Triggers

No, sadly there isn't because the EF lenses is fully electric and the aperture blades of your EF lens can not be stopped down manually.

There are a TON of EF-mount film EOS cameras available on Craigslist or in your local pawn... I bought a 10-S for $40 and a great condition pro model 1-N with grip for $150. They fit all the current lenses.

Manuals like the AE-1 are fun but if you want to use your current lenses, the previous generation of Canon film bodies are excellent.

i noticed after searching you can only put FD lenses on eos mounts, but not the other way around, which sucks because ill only have a 75-205 for it. i wanted a wide angle with some noisy b&w or sepia film (if they make that) for some abandoned buildings/houses i found.

i can put this in the collection of other oldtimer cameras.

im new to film never dealt with it, ive got some original pictures from ww2 and i LOVE the mood from the film and camera, was hoping film could help me out in a few areas of composition and exposure while giving off an old look to the prints

i was hoping for an old looking camera that can use ef/efs mount lenses. if i wanted last gen film id just pass on it, wouldnt give me anything from it other than learning not to spray and pray my shots.

I'm pretty sure if you look on ebay you can still pick up old FD lenses cheaply enough.

If you're starting from scratch picking up manual lenses there is no reason to stick to Canon. I'd look at a Pentax K-mount system for the Takumar lenses or at Nikon since the F-series manual bodies are really excellent.

im not looking to go full blown into film, just something to have as a collectors peice in my collection of old cameras, but yet something cheap enough i can buy a few lenses to use it for fun and enjoyment of film.

i already got the AE-1 and 75-205 lens with a 188A flash for a CHEAP price and it works and is in great condition

Film goes bad, especially if stored in warmer temperatures. If someone has been keeping the film in the fridge or colder, it can stay good well past the expiration (years past) so expired film isn't all that bad. If you're not doing anything important you can try out a roll and see if it is OK and then go back and buy more from the same person or store.

Expired film can also be very interesting with the color shifts it can produce.

You can get in to black and white processing really cheaply these days with Craigslist; I've seen full darkrooms (enlarger, trays, cans, reels, chemicals) going for $35. Then your only expense would be film and paper, not developing or prints. Color slide processing isn't that much different from b/w negatives, just more sensitive to the temperature.
