Hello everyone,

First let me start off by saying I plan to buy both of these lens's without a doubt. My question I guess is which should I buy first? I am looking at the EF-S 17-55 2.8 and the 70-200 2.8L IS. I am shooting a friends wedding soon and was reading around only to find that both of these lens's are recommended for wedding photography. Judging by the gear I have in my sig, which would be better to buy first?

I appreciate any and all information on the matter.

Thanks,
Nick

17-55/2.8 IS first, unquestionably. That 18-55 has to go.
The 55-250 IS will do a good job at a wedding I think. The IS will help a lot in the low light, and there may not be too much action that needs freezing with a fast shutter speed. If it isn't low light, then you don't have a problem.

Agreed, the 17-55 would be the better choice first. If you are shooting a wedding and are the main photographer a second body would be a good idea too. Hiring one would probably be your best bet.

Thank you all for the recommendation! I am doing this only for practice and am not the main photographer. They are good friends of mine and said that they wouldn't mind if I shot their wedding as well.

17-55 is being ordered!

Nick

Definitely 17-55IS. This is the lens you will use everyday. While the 70-200L are also a fatastic lens, but let me remind you that most people under utilize their tele photo lens. If you belong to this group, then you will still be using your kit lens most of the time after you get the 70-200L
