I just recently got a Canon CP-E4 battery pack, love it, works great. My question is when the connector is plugged in the side of the 580ex flash, is the connector suppose to face away from me? I would figure it would faced downward or towards me. Just curious.

Yes, That is correct. The cable goes out to the front of the flash. If it went towards the back it would be forced into your forehead.

BTW. I found that if you velcro tie the cable to the left side camera strap (if you use a strap) helps keep the cable from accidentally wrapping around the flash.

Regards
Rick

Oh yeah that's right, it would hit your forehead. I'm using a flash bracket so I didn't even consider that. Thanks Rick.

At the end of a wedding day I have a star shaped mark on the right side of my forehead from the dial of a 580EX. A mark on the left from a cord facing backwards might even it up!
