Better be . . . ssidiv3r wrote in post #7126531 Hey all, I finally brought my laptop to the mac-authorized place. They said they'd try to open the disk space on front to allow disks in and out so that I wouldn't have to replace the whole bottom case. They also said that if my disk drive itself was bad that it's still under warranty because I got the extended plan, and that they'd call me in the next 48 hours to tell me if they got it fixed and what the price is. Other than that, I spent 2 hours finding out that Best Buy, Radio Shack, Ritz and Major Mac don't have an HDV cable for me to download my videos to my laptop. The camcorder came with the cable for loading PICTURES, but I don't need that. So, does anybody know where I can get an HDV-to-USB cable? Sure you don't need FireWire? ssidiv3r wrote in post #7128918 There is an HDV port on the back and the owners manual says to use an HDV cable (commercially available of course) to download video. The picture shows something similar to the connection on the right in the image below. The cable that came with the camera is a 4-pin connector on one end and a usb on the other (exactly the same as the cable for my XT). On my camera there is a port marked "HDV/DV" and one below it marked "HDMI Out". I might just need a 4-pin-to-Firewire cable like THIS CLICKY ![]() Dood! That's FireWire 6 pin to FireWire 4 pin at the link. If your MacBook has Fire Wire, get FireWire 4 for the camera and whatever FireWire the laptop has. Most DV cameras transfer via FireWire, not HDMI. Belated wishes from me, too. Jon

Looks like lots were busy over the weekend. I've been scanning in a bunch of old slides and restoring them. Got about 50 or so done over the weekend. They are coming out pretty nice and looking better than the originals. I guess slides can benefit from a digital workflow. Not sure why, but call me JJ.
