Went to Rockingham Castle yesterday and came across their circular rose garden which was obviously perfect for a 360 degree panorama.

I took 11 exposures in all [Unfortunately mucking up the exposure I'm afraid so the sky is pretty much blown out and cutting the top off one of the trees!] then merged them as a panorama in Elements and did the planet trick with the polar coordinates filter then a bit of cloning/curves etc.

Overall though I'm fairly pleased with my first attempt at this and learnt a few things to take away for the next ime I try it.

Feedback welcome!

That's pretty cool. I am still twisting my neck in all sorts of directions looking at this image.

Did you merge the images to a spherical pano first?

Thanks mate.

No, I simply merged them into a flat, linear panorama using the photomerge command. Having taken a 360 degree pano I could then crop it so that the exact same feature was present at each end spliced through the middle. Then I resized the image into a square shape, rotated through 180 degrees and applied the polar coordinates distortion filter. That was basically it other than a bit of curves, cloning and sharpening.

This makes me want to take some photos with a Kaleidoscope filter.

Hmm, reminds me...

I have some nice, fresh Kiwi fruit in the fridge!

(Very trippy Planet treatment)
