Literally.
Just looked out the back window and saw this beautiful bird basking in the sunshine on my neighbours shed roof.
Had to carefully open the back door to hastily grab a couple of pics before he shot off over the fields.
Crap quality, but didn't get chance to check settings etc before grabbing him.
Handheld with 500 so couldn't get all of him in the frame @ about 20 feet.

Nice shots. Yup, he heard something in that 30D he didn't like. Sometimes though, they are pretty bold. :)

Thanks all.
Yes, they are rather stupid birds but at the end of the shooting season they boldly strut about the fields as if to say "Ha, you can't shoot me now", so guess they must be clever too.
He occasionally lands up on the neighbours shed as a take off point, once he's had a good look to see what's going on in the other gardens, but rarely ever comes into mine as I have high hedges which makes it a bit of a steep short take off for him.
The sun shining on his golden breast was really stunning, and a shame I only had about a minute (if that) to grab the camera and snap him.
