Got my nifty yesterday in the mail. Grabbed two tired cranky kids and headed to the University near by. I managed to get just a few shots before all hell broke loose. This was the first time I have ever touched a 50mm lens. I realize that I need to watch myself as far as cutting heads, feet and hands off but what else can you help me with? Here are two that I managed to get: Any C&C welcome! Thanks in advance

first one isnt bad... did you do something to the 2nd? Looks like you may have tried to fix shadows or highlights?

The pole is tilted on the first one. The second one looks soft.
