To Focus Stack or Not

I really like the macro world and have been enjoying my EF-S 60 lens.

I am thinking of acquiring a MP-E 65 but was wondering: "Does one have to focus stack to use it?"

I ask because I really dislike post-processing.

Is focus stacking to be expected with this lens, or just another PP option like HDR.

The short answer is no - focus stacking is not a necessity for any macro shots. It's just a tool you may want to use. Just depends on how you approach your maco shooting (ie style). Check out Dalantech's photostream here http://www.flickr.com/​photos/dalantech/
many MPE-65 shots and no focus stacking in sight.

I use it a lot to get round the DOF/diffraction softening problem because I like a high detail level in my shots.

I don't focus stack my macro photos I take with my MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1-5x lens
