It's in my Amazon Gold Box for $1,249. Good price or not?

Thanks,

Does this include the 100.00 dollar rebate. Even if it doesn't that is a good price. I paid 1400 for mine and I thought that was good.

The recent copies tend to be sharper than the earlier ones and it makes 400mm f5.6 L nearly obsolute except it is light

Only tried the 100-400 once and compared to the 400 5.6 the AF is mega Slooooooow.

The 400 5.6 will never be obsolete. Killer birding lens.

Both have their place in the Canon catalogue for good reasons. The 400mm f5.6 L is a much more specific tool and as such, it's less versatile than the 100-400L. But make no mistake, it's a fantastic optic.

Evidently Amazon pricing dropped since I posted this.
It showed up in my Gold Box at $1,169 this morning. With free Tiffen UV filter.
And I had an Amazon $10 gift card.

Total $1,159 shipped !!!!!

Can't wait...

Great price on a killer lens, but sell the UV. 100-400 and filters don't work well together.

the 100-400L is one lens i use with and without UV filter. if there's a difference in IQ it is VERY VERY slight (i don't think i can see the difference).
