I just purchased a new 50D. I don't have it yet, but I see that it is UDMA compatible. I was wondering if it will make a difference and if I should get a UDMA compact flash card. Any opinions?

According to a review I read it will make a difference to the number of jpegs you can shoot before the buffer fills. If you shoot raw it appears to make no difference.

My UDMA cards also format in the 50D much faster.

If you shoot rapid fire, if you enjoy very fast download speeds to your computer and are willing to invest about 60 bucks in an extreme IV firewire 800 card reader, then it's worth it. Otherwise, probably not worth the extra money.
