Yep, I look at all of them full size first. Some that don't look like much as a thumbnail are really great full size. :D

Mornin All!:D

I agree absolutely...they need to be viewed in full size because there is too much that is overlooked in the thumbnail. Maybe not x2 or x3 but definitely large at minimum. Too many very good shots are skipped because thumbnails don't do them justice.

oh and G'morning...sorry I forgot that.

I generally get anywhere from 100-300 spam emails aimed at my domain name email addresses. Fortunately, SpamAssassin catches almost all of them. Once a week or so I go through the spam folder looking to make sure there were no false positives. It's kinda interesting to see the subject lines some of these spammers use to try to fool me into opening the email. Quite often the subject line will be a name from one of the graves in my Pioneer Graves project or the name of a mountain I climbed that's listed in my hiking galleries. They make it look like it's someone asking for info about something, then when you look in the email itself it's for discount drugs to enhance different parts of my body... Idiots...

Since I've got my new email address (with my web-site), I've been fortunate in having pretty much no spam at all. But that's only because I'm very careful about what sites I put my email address into. Also, I think that many of the chain-joke links from my friends usually goes to my hotmail address (for which I hardly ever look at the mailbox for).

I am also a fan of clicking "Ignore this Application" when crap comes at me from people on Facebook. I'm a great fan of keeping a nice, neat Facebook profile.

I rarely open those. Every now and then, though, there is a gem :)

That's one of the things about Facebook that always confuses me most. I don't know what all that crap is. I tend to just ignore those (as in pretend they don't even exist, not as in click the "Ignore" button). I think I have close to 100 "pending requests" by now. I probably should go through and officially ignore them all...

In little tiny writing at the bottom of the invitation, you should see something like "block this application". Just using the Ignore button will only ignore that one request. Blocking the application means you'll never get anything again from the same application, no matter who sends it to you.

Thanks for the tip. I'm off to Facebook to clean up the clutter.

Hi Deb and thanks, me too. Yeah it has hurt pretty badly. I think it's a deep bruise (if that's possible on a finger). It took a while for the bruise to surface.

and yep, not too long before we have a puppy here...I admit to being a little nervous about how we'll adapt. I hope well.

GMAE - It's been quite a busy week for me at work. We're also working on packing for the big move. We're possibly closing on Friday. It's still up in the air as far as I know.

Have I missed anything interesting?

It's always interesting here, so yeah,. You missed it. :p
Congratulations on moving into your new house. How exciting it is to movie in before Christmas!!

Full detail doesn't matter. They are not being printed full size, so why do I need to pixel peep?

For voting the size only goes to 800px. That's hardly pixel peeping. ;) The slideshow is fantastic for viewing the shots for voting.

Question. Any opinions on a mid range($500-$600ish) Zoom to 200mm or 300mm? I hear the 75-300 struggles with IQ. It is for a friend. It does not have to be a Canon. Any help is apreciated. What do we think of the 28-135 IS?

I am off to the barn, back in a bit.

I think the 75-300 and 28-135 have gotten a bad rap from all the L snobs in the lens forum. We have one of each and both deliver acceptable images. I don't use the 75-300, but Heather does and gets excellent results from it (on my old D60 to boot...) I used the 28-135 as my walk-around general purpose lens until last year. I just had to have something with a wider aperture and opted for the Tamron 28-75 f2.8 because I couldn't afford the Canon 24-70. Heather now uses the 28-135.

Woolburr wrote in post #6847876 (external link)
Nothing at all wrong with the 28-135 IS....much better range than the L 24-105....not quite as fast...but still a good bang for the buck lens...the one thing you need to know about it...you absolutely can not use a filter on it if you want decent IQ....even the best filter going causes serious issues with it. Slap on a lens hood and it is a killer lens.

Don't use filters...

Beautiful photo, John!

Thanks. There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the cross because it used to be a city park. All the anti-religion types have been trying to get it removed for years. The city gave the land to the federal government and the furor has died down for the time being, but I'm sure we haven't heard the last of it...

Especially in Hawaii. I don't know what it is about Spam and Hawaii but it's very common there. Heck, I had Spam sushi. It was actually very good.

This could explain my liking for Spam. I was born in Hawaii...
