For voting the size only goes to 800px. That's hardly pixel peeping. The slideshow is fantastic for viewing the shots for voting.

I always look at them all full sized, it is easy with the slideshow. There are many that the thumbnails do not do justice too.

And this year the thumbnails are square, or were they always and my remembery is acting up again.

He is mending quite well, he actually ran for 5 minutes at therapy last week He was so excited about that!

GMAE - It's been quite a busy week for me at work. We're also working on packing for the big move. We're possibly closing on Friday. It's still up in the air as far as I know.

This is a newer option on Smuggy, which gives you more thumbnails/page. Good thing to point out though Becky, because those just looking at the thumbnails are often not seeing the whole image.

I do like some have said. My process is;
1. Look at how many photos are in the share, this will tell me how selective I must be.
2. Go through the slide show at the largest size, and note the ones I REALLY like, that either look great, or move me in some way. I am really tough at this stage.
3. Looking at how many I now have, and what I have to pair it down to, I weed out the lesser photos (I find this easier then working from the top) until I get the number allowed.

Last year I think there were 2 shares that I never voted for the maximum in, because there were not enough that really struck my fancy to vote for the limited amount. It was in G&N and I think Still/B&W. I do go through the G&N forum once in a while, and there is some fantastic images in there, but unfortunately none of them are entered into the book competition.

Jim, I like the point you made about not just starting at the top and selecting the first 10 that you like. I too try to be fair to the people at the END of the list by going allllll the way through the submission set.

Except here at work, they are now regular thumbnails, I know last night on the laptop though, they were square.

I just made a list from my first share to vote, at the moment I have well over 3 x the number I can vote on. And now I must go back to work so voting may take awhile this year.

On a lighter note, when I was fretting this morning how I was going to get stuff done, I forgot, I'm taking Friday afternoon off. So at least the neglected rooms and my Christmas cards will get done during that time.
