You are a wise man :) Though, I fall into the 'why the heck spend a decent used car on a dress to wear one time' camp

 I borrowed my wedding dress from a friend of a friend.

Oh, and I'm ashamed to admit, that the thought of hiring a photographer never even crossed my mind. LOL

Lisa bought hers, and I am thinking may still have it, though not sure.
Maybe I should dress her up in it, then throw her in some mud to get some fun shots. :p

We had a friend photograph our wedding for free, we just paid for supplies. He was an amateur buff though, with SLR's and MF gear.

That's something I've never been unable to understand. The bride goes out and spends thusands of dollars on a dress she'll never wear again and the groom rents a tux... Why not rental wedding dresses too? It would have to be much less expensive and then the bride isn't stuck with a useless dress...
Jon wrote in post #6852310 (external link)
Same reason a guy will rent a tux (or drag out the old navy suit) for the prom or other formal event while she goes out and buys a dress for the occasion. Don't question why. Just stand there and admire . . .

One of the mysteries of the universe. I too never understood the amount of $$ spent on today's weddings. My neighbors daughter spent over $35,000 and ~3% of that was on the photographer though I'm not complaining :). Her marriage lasted 17 months and now she moved back in with mom and dad. That's almost $2000 per for a month of marriage. I'm lucky I married my wife young. Our while wedding was about $3000, everything, including the photographer.

Getting married wasn't meant to make sense... ;)...

And it doesn't but that goodness it i the way it is. I know a few who make a good living doing nothing but weddings.

Nice picture. The amount of damage is still so visible from the great fire of 88. I was amazed at the amount of area that is covered in 10' tall pines when we were there in September. It will be recovering for another 20 years.

I hear you on that....My brother spent about $25-30k USD on his wedding, and the photographer was utter garbage - friend of the family had to reedit all the photos to make them look even remotely worthy.....Wife and I woke up one morning and decided to elope (then tell the family - that went down well ;))...cost $50...no photographers. 5 years later we're still saying "we have to hold a reception"...

I've just started using DigiLabs and am really happy with them so far. Their proof books are next on my list of things to try.
I'll look at prolabexpress. Thanks for the link.

And woo hoo on your cards!

Those are star trails. It's done with a long exposure. That one is probably around 45 minutes.

I could be wrong, but I think those are star trails? It looks like a long exposure shot.
