I paid $1.49 for gas on Monday...first time I've filled up for less than 20 bucks in years.

It really is scary to see people losing their houses. What is even scarier is to see how much less our dollar buys with each passing month. Even with the huge decline in gas prices...the other prices don't seem to be dropping at all. $5 for a bag of potato chips is insane!

Have you looked at laundry detergent recently?? holy COW that stuff is pricey!

We have a party to go to at the rat's place this weekend. Maybe I'll see if I can score some alcohol.

Go talk to Chuck E. I hear he's buying. :)

 I went there once when the kids were little, and swore I would never go back, and never did. The kids were fine with doing other stuff. Now, I just take 'em to the bar for a drink. ;)

 and how did that work out for you?

how come?

I was going to hit the sections with the least photos first, for my brain that seems easiest.

wow, if I had to do it again I'd do the longest ones first that way it would only get easier from there!

Getting married wasn't meant to make sense... ;)

Marriage isn't so bad. In fact, I think so much of it I've done it three times... Someone once asked me how long I'd been married. I told them 33 years, but I spread it over three wives...

Jon wrote in post #6852310 (external link)
Same reason a guy will rent a tux (or drag out the old navy suit) for the prom or other formal event while she goes out and buys a dress for the occasion. Don't question why. Just stand there and admire . . .

At least the dress can be used at a subsequent formal event. No woman is going to wear the same dress to get married a second time.

Harm wrote in post #6852573 (external link)
I hear you on that....My brother spent about $25-30k USD on his wedding, and the photographer was utter garbage - friend of the family had to reedit all the photos to make them look even remotely worthy.....Wife and I woke up one morning and decided to elope (then tell the family - that went down well ;))...cost $50...no photographers. 5 years later we're still saying "we have to hold a reception"...

poppie guy wrote in post #6852722 (external link)
Our total wedding costs, including the reception came to about $185.00. Cake, sub sandwich, chips, diet sodas, point & shoot photos for those who wanted memories. No rehearsal, wife and I plus 15 guests and the priest all arrived about 11:00 AM. Got married, had some cake and snacks in the church hall afterward. Went our own ways at 1:30 PM. Nice ceremony, friendly visiting afterward, everyone agreed it was one of the best weddings they had ever been to.

We did the same thing. We rented a meeting room at the zoo, which we got for a large discount because Heather is an employee, I wore a white dress shirt and black jeans, Heather bought a plain white dress from the Lane Bryant on-line clearance store and our food came from Costco. Our photographer was a friend who did it for nothing. We bought the film, which he gave to us after the wedding and we processed and printed it ourselves.

I didn't pay over $20 to fill up, even when the prices were their highest. But then, the motorcycle only holds five gallons...

I took my kids there one time when they were small. Though they liked the place ok fine, when I asked them on their next birthday where they wanted to go they always choose "The Golden Samurai." They love the show with the chef chopping and cooking and the beating heart pile of rice. :)

Well I don't really have much of a connection to those genre's of photography. When I come across those sections I just choose ones that jump out as high quality images... I didn't find a lot of images JUMPING out at me either or stirring any emotion. I only voted for 4 in each section.

Ok, I can't argue with the results (external link), but ... why do a TTD shoot anyway? Seems like an awful waste of a perfectly good garment.

I have a question for you guys in here.

What do you think of photos like Pets-059 - should this be a pet shot? To me it's more of a nature/landscape but because there happens to be a puppy in it, it's in Pets? Seems silly to me. (DISCLAIMER - I don't know who's shot this is so don't feel I'm bashing someone, it's just the latest example in cross-genre submission that I have issues with).
