Hi all. This is my first upload with my new gear after taking about 11 years off. This next week or 2 I'm not going for anything spectacular or even "book-worthy." I'm just playing to get used to the camera. Good thing, because I had some problems. After that I'll start playing with settings and relearning what I forgot.

With that said, this was taken on a 450D/XSi with the 55-250IS on night portrait mode. Not great, I know, but hey, it's my first night shot on my first DSLR.

It looks OOF. Did you take this using a tripod? And if so I would turn IS off. As you don't need it using a tripod and all it will do is make your shot softer..as it is always working away trying to stabilize...uses more battery too ;)

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. The entire IS thing is new to me. Lots of experimenting to do.

Tripod per se, no. I put the camera on the roof of my car. As I get used to what the different settings do I'm sure I'll get better.
