Great job, Lincoln. And it's nice to know you had a lot of fun cranking out those cool vid's with your 5DII.

As with Brandon and yourself, I'm also chomping at the bit waiting for the Zoom H1 to hit the shelves since you posted on it awhile back. I rate it as a must-have.

Hey, nice pic's Kent. Brings back fond memories of the meets we've had there.

Speaking of fond memories, and as something I've been meaning to do for the longest time (years), I've finally posted online an abbreviated version of a slideshow I put together of pic's I took that are of friends of mine surfing at Hale'iwa.

This is the first time I'm doing this, and I do realize how jerky the zoom and panning action gets when vimeo converted my files, but I guess I can't do anything about that.

haha, thanks guys. I also noticed during the conversion from TIFF to JPEG, then to VOB, then to MP4 and then finally to whatever format Vimeo uses, the pic's degraded horrendously, along with the jerkiness but I guess it conveys the message in usable fashion. The HD version looks so much better.

I've also got a slideshow of my son's football season to hack down to a much smaller size than what was presented at the awards banquet, but it looks like it will be quite awhile before I can get to that one.

Cool. Thanks Lincoln. By chance I did submit in MP4 format and most of the other settings matched what I submitted, so what I think I'll do is rework the slideshow by following all preferences and resubmit with a new link.

I'm sort of wondering if the bandwidth and streaming bitrate also contributed to the glitches?

Hello all. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Micah and I know some of you here and have met a few of you. Unfortunately, I haven't ever been able to go to a meet up so I don't really know as many people as some of you do. I am a special education teacher at Dole Middle School in Kalihi.

I know that many of us are on hard times, some of us not so much as others, and some of us more so than others. Anyhow, I know many of you are great photographers, many professional, many not but good enough to be.

This is totally out of the blue, and I'll try to bring it up a few more times, but I was wondering if any of you would be interested in participating a FREE FAMILY PHOTO SHOOT day, perhaps the 2nd Saturday after Thanksgiving which is NOT the Black Friday weekend (for sort of like a Christmas gift).

This is what I envision. The location would be my school. I would pay for use of the cafeteria, and bring you guys food, advertise the event. Some of you could bring your lighting/studio gear and cameras, and a few laptops and printers. We'd take free pictures of families, do very simple touch-ups, print out the pictures (set amount to be determined later, but maybe something like 2 8x10s and 4 4x6s?) for free. If they'd like more, we'd ask for a donation (to go entirely to a non-profit organization not yet determined) and print them more. I would try my best to get donations, such as gift cards for any volunteers.

Perhaps we could get 2 or 3 shifts, and just run it from 10:00am to 3:00pm. I am just wondering if there would be enough interest and commitment to even try to organize something like this.

Additional details:
1. There would be absolutely no cost to you. I'd pay for ink, paper, etc. Hopefully you guys would bring the hardware. Unless you'd like to help me out, I intend to fund this myself or find funding. But I need the manpower volunteers.
2. Dole Middle School's population consists of upper Kalihi and 2 Public Housings. Many people who may not be as fortunate as others (no offense to any Kalihians). Many of them would not be able to afford a professional photo shoot. This would be open to ANYONE from anywhere regardless of income. Just bringing up Kalihi as the students' families would be the main target only due to proximity to the site.
3. I feel that perhaps I can give something back to the community. I get no credit for this, no raise, no monetary gain for myself, friends, or relatives. I really want to do this.

Anyone even slightly interested? Or is this already going on? Reply here please!

I think that's a great idea. So just for clarification, this is for Saturday, December 4th. I have a wedding booked that day, but I've done sessions like this in the past (Kapiolani Hospital) so maybe I can provide some advice on organization for the event if we have enough interest.

That is really cool of you, Micah. I had been thinking about doing something like this for awhile now, but could never figure out the logistics of it. You can count me and my equipment in as well.

Micah, can you also post this on HPF (external link)? I think more people would see it there. I could repost, but I think it's more meaningful coming from you. Maybe in the Help Wanted section? We could maybe post it up on our HPF Facebook page as well to see if we can get more people to help or spread the word.
