So I'm thinking of changing/upgrading my line-up...

Debating between another 5D 35L+85L+135L or 1DMKIIn 35L+50L+135L

Thinking of selling my 24-70L and 70-200 2.8IS as well as my AB800 + Vagabond + Accesories to fund these!

If you're thinking of selling any of these, or want to buy or trade, let me know! It's not for sure yet, but lemme know if you're interested!

Thanks =]

Hmmm..two foot-framers and the zoomie....sounds good.

If we were back in the day of film and no PS, I'd say prime's would be a whole lot more essential from a pro's point of view. Although even now when in capable hands, the prime's sure do save a lot of time post processing in the virtual darkroom to make zoomie shots look like they came out of a prime.;)

Oh, and of course, having a 200L prime in the gear bag (like somebody we all know and love) can't hurt either, especially so for making other photog's around him so jealous. :p

Unfortunately I don't have the budget for that =[And honestly, I RARELY touch my 70-200 at weddings. I think the only time I've actually used it was when we were restricted to the back of a church.

I also have access to lots of lenses through my studio, so I can always use one of theirs.

I'm interested in selling a 135L if you're interested John, I'm even considering selling the 35L too. That one would need some convincing and a relatively high selling price though, because I really really like the focal length and I probably use that one the most of the lenses I own. What puts me on the fence about it is that I'm wanting in that lenses resolving power often.

Why not keep the 24-70 combo with your current 5D? and get the IIn with 135L for reach? and 35L to get close to 50mm equivalent on FF.

The IIn can be short in high ISO for night/dark reception but most of time if you over-exposed by 1/3 -2/3 stop, grain is very little. You also get the speed and better AF with it if needed.

How about a Mk III with a 135L? should not go beyond your budget.

Thanks

The main reason I want to change my lineup is for the super fast lenses. I love bokeh. The 24-70 is very sharp and versatile, but it's really not the best for creamy bokeh or super low light.

A MK3 would be nice, but they're still quite a bit more than a MK2n. Once I start making a little more money, then I'll look into getting some more recent cameras. Hahaha I think if I get a MK2n, all of my cameras will be about 5 years old.

Haha, well I don't have the money for it yet, but I think I'm gunna put my 70-200 2.8 IS up for sale soon. If that sells, I'd definitely be interested in picking up that 135L.

The 35L and 50L will have to wait a bit because if I sell my 24-70, I would only have the money for one, and then I would have a big gap in my lineup.

70-200 2.8 IS up for sale! Less than a year old! I'm the original owner, and the lens is in like new condition. Let me know if you're interested =]

Wow, I found that at the few weddings I helped shoot, I used my 70-200 2.8 IS a whole lot.

Maybe because I was the back up shooter, and I wasn't quite doing the same "in your face" type shots that the primary shooter was going for.

Good luck selling that lens, I have a few friends who may be interested.

i dont regret selling my 70-200 to fund a 135. the 135 is an amazing lens. sharp and fast. i've shot a couple news assignments with it already, and it's definitely a keeper. shooting primes has really made me think of what im doing and where i need to be to make a photo. really helps with lens selection, as far as which lens i should have on the two bodies im using...

the 70-200 is a lens of convenience. :P hehe

I like zooms for shooting video because the camera is on a tripod and for events where you have to stay seated, like your keikis' school performances.
