Doing a 365 challenge on another forum and figure it's a good time to try some different things.

Nate - nicely done, a great way to bring in the New Year.

Darren - your house is beautiful! That shot has Christmas and New Years written all over it.

Norris - So thats how the new lookout looks like.

Shon - Nice photo, lighting is great. A 365 project would be too much for me, you will have to be creative everyday for a year.

Have a great New Year everyone!

Thanks. My intent was to take a picture of my daughter everyday, but had to fix my wife's car. By the time I was done, my daughter was sleeping. When the project is done, I wanted to make a .gif/slideshow and see how she's changed in a year.

Eyes of Hawaii's guest speaker this month is Jamm Aquino (Kent's friend). I'll be available to attend this one.

Haven't been there since they re-opened--any noticeable differences? Did you actually see any whales out there? Every time I go out there I feel like the wind's going to blow me off the cliff and I'm pretty heavy.

I like the lighting--how did you light it? Think I would've liked it better without the tag.

Zen - it is new and no did not see anything lol.. plenty tourist though...

Shon - would a background light help separate more the subject? I was thinking doing something similar with another bottle of alcohol... will see...

Thanks for the setup. I saw this thing a long time ago that I've been meaning to try forever--you use a piece of glass on the bottom like you did, but you lay down something or paint it but leave a hole underneath the bottle and you light it from the bottom. I never had anything interesting to light since I don't drink--don't think a bottle of water would make an interesting subject.

Man, it took me an hour to get to work (6 miles from my house to work) this morning. Traffic was messed up coming from the West side.

If I were to do it again, I would use a snoot/grid and possibly some kind of diffuser. I'd fire it top down or 90deg left or right to light the cork. I think the shadows look better if they were to fall on the BG.

I have the meeting marked down on my calendar. I'm really interested in attending.
