I just got my 100-400 recently. I know that I shouldn't turn on the IS when the lens is on a tripod, but what about on a monopod? Would the IS be useful when the lens is mounted on a monopod?

Unless you're under really bad lighting conditions and can't get a fast enough shutter speed you should be fine turning IS off on the monopod. Shawn | Flickr
