This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new tricks when it comes to editing.

Here's the breakdown of the game. I will post a picture that I choose, resized to exactly 1024 pixels maximum on the long side. Outside of being resized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to any levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera.

The game will last 48hrs and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.

Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before and After #135".

This is all about having fun so have at it!!!
Any edit, over-the-top creative or subtle, is encouraged!

Because of the holiday, this game will end on Saturday, November 29th at 3:00pm (Mountain).

My nephew...I think this would've turned out really cute if I would've gotten his feet in the picture! What would you do with it?

Ok no one has had a go so I'll give it a try - go easy on me - 1st timer here who was really struggling for inspiration with this one so it is a very simple edit!

IMAGE: http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w207/robsheeley/3060837586_9675e719f3_o-alter.jpg

1- Cropped a touch tighter to make it look like the legs were purposefully not included.

2 - Slight levels adjustment for colour

3 - Curves adjustment slightly lightening lower mid-tones

4 - Highly saturated the grass to gice a surreal effect (about 70%)

5 - Unsharp mask (around 95 with a radius od 0.6)

5 - Simple border

Also tried posterising it ..... I'm never big on these ones but this is how it came out.

Just for the heck of it....

Saturation, levels, contrast mask, high-pass sharpening, brush filter.

Created layer, applied LucisArt effect Exposure setting 4 at 35%.
Created adjustment layer used brush tool to paint back in the boys face from original image. This is done because the LucisArt effect added shadows to the face I didn't like.
Flattened
Used burn tool exposure set at 60% to darken grass in front
Created second layer applied VirtualPhotographers ambience setting at 30%
Framed
Done.

I think I solved the legs problem by hiding them under the tallish grass...
Here's the breakdown:

Extended the canvas
Cloned in grass over the legs
Warming filter 20%
Nik Color Efex, Midnight filter:
50% contrast
75% Brightness
95% Color
Shadow slider to its minimum
Nik Color Efex, Pro Contrast filter:
correct color cast (38%)
Nik Color Efex, Darken/Lighten filter:
center point on boy to highlight
Crop image
Add Frame
Noise Ninja to remove JPG artifacts

I know this doesnt count, but my edit above was bugging me...so here's another one...

IMG NOTICE: [NOT AN IMAGE URL, NOT RENDERED INLINE]
Smoothed skin, enlarged eyes, added some color to the eyes, cleaned up and shaped hair, cleaned up some of the facial shadows in photoshop, imported into lightroom, added to vibrancy and clarity, adjusted some of the color sliders.

here is my go..
i wanted a bright, rich, colorful image.

what i did was, i bumped up exposure, and masked out the boy, so i could get some really rich BG color.
then i bumped up contrast, saturation, gave a little bit of an eye sparkle.

i burned a vignette in by lowering the exposure of the burn tool, and went in, and painted where i wanted it.
