I did a crop, shadows/highlight, levels, color balance, hue/saturation, brightness/contrast, some minor skin healing, a little cloning of the distracting bits in the grass, unsharp mask.

Thought I would take a different approach for some variation...
Cutest kid!

Cropped
Curve adjustment
Used a variety of smudge brushes to create a painted effect
Burnt and dodged selected areas
Color balance adjustments and hue
Sharpened, but blurred the background a bit.
More smudging
Border and watercolor paper texture (sandstone)

Thanks everyone for joining in on this one.

After looking at all of these a number of times, I really liked the more “conventional” edits like the ones done by Monty, the Highlander, azsteve-o and shniks. But, then the more I looked, the more I thought about which one my sister-in-law would be most likely to hang on her wall. With that in mind, I had to give this one to Vettography. I think you gave this photo the “arty” touch that makes moms like her happy and really, that’s the point of a picture like this. Looks good. Thanks!

So, you’re up Vetteography!
