V8 Supercar

Here's a shot form earlier this year at the Adelaide round of the V8 Supercars. I think all is ok except for the safety fencing. Any ideas on avoiding this or eliminating it from the shot. The only way to get to the other side of the fencing is get a media pass....not likely unfortunately.

get as close to it as you can and use th biggest aperture you can, same event looks like the same corner

I didn't even notice the security fencing. That is an amazing shot!

Thats a good example of how to combat the fence..nice shot on number 2!

I much prefer the first one, I find the second boring with no movement, it does cut right through the fence though.

Or you can just employ the hole in a can method.

Unfortunately my lens at max focal length will only stop to 5.6.. I think in some way though it adds a bit of atmosphere to the shot. i'm saving up for next year.

atky, I'm guessing you could get a bit wider...I like the vignetting on your shot though.

This was taken withe a sigma 120 300 f2.8 wit a 1.4 telly converter so it would of been at F4 The vignetting is a result of the 1.4 converter.
I like your shot a lot has a great feel and shows movement well think the fence helps it.

I reckon it's fine as far as movement etc goes.
Using the fence like you have adds to the feel of it - use what you've got - Don't be afraid to use stuff like fencing and crowds to add atmosphere and feel, but I think the colour could be out a bit.
It seems to have a reddish/yellow cast to it.

Heres a couple of mine.
Both were deliberate attempts to get the result. The Whincup image I actually went into the stand to get that shot and use the crowd and fence to add movement and feel and also to change the angle to be a little different.

My preference is for slower shutter speed and the background fence doesn't bother me since the limited DOF and motion blur on the fence looks fine to me. Since the car is rotating through the corner, the back end will be out of focus. You did a good job getting the focus dead on center of the hood.

You might underexpose it by 1/2 a stop or so which will darken the shadows a bit. One of my friends who shoots motorsports tends to set the exposure under by 1/3 to 1/2 stop. I think it saturates the colors a bit more as well.
