Greetings:

I went digital recently and have a question about controling my white balance and my manual is not helping.

Can someone please give me step-by-step instructions on the rebel to obtain my white balance features, i.e - cloudy, sunny, etc.

Also, when I mount my EX external flash (which is compatable) my camera the flash will not go off. Do I need to set my camera to a special feature?

Life in Monterey

Thanks so much!

Do a search here in the forums. It has been covered several times. Also, did you go to www.photoworkshop.com? (external link) There are tutorials there for the Rebel.

Go to page 51 in the manuel to figure out what the icons mean, then push WB button and turn dial to desired position.

It's always possible that you have an intermittent connection on the hot shoe (where the external flash sits on the camera). Once you have eliminated user error as a possibility, then wiggle the flash unit to see if that is happening.

Thank you all so much. . .but guess what?? I'm embarrassed to say my batteries were too low to fire the flash. I'm in action now!

Thanks so much for the quick response and professional input.

Photo4U - It has happened to everyone of us one time or another. You can tell it as a good story in some thread next Winter.
