I don't think that my thoughts or intentions were made clear by my original post. For that I apologize.

What I meant to relay was, this lens is more close to perfect than any lens that I have. Canon 50 f1.4, Canon 24-105 L, Canon 100-400 L, Canon EF 500 F4.5 L, Tamron 90 Macro.

This Canon EF 70-200 f4L IS delivers absolutely stunning images at all settings and FL, except at where I like to shoot butteryflys and flowers. And that is at 100-200mm and f8 to f11 at close distances.

My lens has noticeable lack of SHARPNESS at MFD at the long end. I have started using EXTENSION, and this has corrected the problem.

I simply wanted to know if others were unhappy with the MFD performance, and whether they had tried extension.

My lens is damned close to perfect now!
