i was just wondering if anyone knew how low the price of the g6 would go down to. right now i see it at 492.99 at 42 photo and 599.99 at bestbuy. is this pretty much the lowest it will go?

Until the G7 comes out . . . Oh, it might swing a couple of dollars up or down. Of course, if the dollar doesn't start to improve, it'll be going up again :{(#

does that mean it will drop until the g7 comes out, or it will drop after the g7 comes out?

Sometimes Dell goes crazy and sells the G6 (along with a bunch of other stuff) at a very low price. For example, last President's Day Sale, it went for $454, shipping is free, and if you're in the right state, no tax. It's all a matter of knowing the right coupons for the day.

ok, then what do you think the absolute lowest price it will go down to will be? 450? 400? (well, maybe not 400, i've never seen the g5 go that low)

If it drops much below where it is now, it'll be because there's a new successor announced, or the G line is being merged in with one of the other "fancy" PowerShot lines (basically being discontinued). Why? If you're waiting for the price to drop, you'll always be waiting for a new, better price. But you can't take pictures with the camera you're going to (Real Soon Now) get.

well, basically, if the price isnt going to deviate too much (say within 50$ from where it is now) then i might as well just buy it now. however, if the price does drop by a lot (which i havent seen any of the powershots do) then i have a reason to wait for it to. oh well.

Like I said, you can't take pictures with the camera you're going to get. Canon always has the option of releasing something new and sending the price for the existing stuff plunging, but waiting for that to happen is a no-win. If you want it, and can manage it now, then get it rather than wait for a possible price drop "tomorrow" (which we all know, never comes).

If we knew the answer, we would probably be pretty good at the stock market, too. But you know about those insider tips....... I bought my G6 for $537 with free shipping a month ago and I don't regret it. Never look back.

$2? A 0.4% drop? Ship it ground rather than overnight and you'll save more than that!

I would think that the amount of time invested in constantly searching for a better deal on a camera would offset what you might actually save at this point.

Then again, some people have nothing better to do with their time ;) .
