My BIL just called me and said his 40D is dead :(

It was working fine last week. He put it away and now it's dead. He took off the grip and just inserted the battery in and still no power. Tried both batteries and AA same thing. :(

Any other suggestions?

Bah... don't bother. It's a dead 40D. Happens pretty often. It happened to me. It's a faulty DC-DC circuit board. 1D3's has this part as well and is known to kill the body as you explained. Send it in.

Yup, it's dead alright. Talked to Canon tech and he said send it in.

I feel bad that it happened right at the holidays :(
