How often do you use your Canon, Sigma or Tamron 70-200/2.8 non-IS handheld?
BOTHER- I meant to add "never" and "only in very low light", but I hit the submit button rather than modify poll options. Doh!

Nov 27, 2008 04:11 | #5 Permanent bancuriousity coupled with long-term plans to get one. I'd go with either a 70-200/4 IS or a 70-200/2.8, but couldn't/wouldn't afford a 70-200/2.8 IS.

I've used it indoors in a very poorly-lit rock club and had usable results at 1/60th at 200mm (I was a bit shocked!), so it's possible to get away with not being able to afford the IS. ~ Paul

I use a monopod way more often for sports photography indoors or outdoors at night, but will handhold for most daytime outdoor sports as well as when I go on hikes with it. It's not like I'm setting up for bird of landscapes or even night photography with it. It's used for sports and action along with weddings. Can't move around quick and easy with a tripod.
