Yeah, I was going to say you shouldn't change the wording of the poll from the title!

take 1 off of always and add 1 on to usually not (with the lack of a "never" option).

doh i chose the option for the question on the thread subject rather than the poll.

how confusing OP.. lol

I was fooled as well... I voted always, mean it's always handheld... which of course means that it is handheld 99% of the time, it has seen a tripod, but rarely.

very interesting break up of answers- sorry for the confusion BTW. I'd love to know if those who voted always are using it in a specific circumstance, eg studio, and those who voted never are using it in a different circumstance, eg sports or journalism, or if it's just a matter of shooting style.

I only use a tripod with my 2.8 non IS if the shutter speed is under 1/30.

Hand held bascially 98% of the time.

theres a reason why i spent the equivalent of Angola's world debt on a 2.8 lens with IS...and it sure wasn't to stick it on a tripod!! hand held all the way :-)

Mostly, I use mine handheld, to shoot sports and wildlife, sometimes I will use a monopod for these situations but this is rare and I have never used a tripod for these.

I have used my 70-200 on a tripod, where i live in the austrian alps, there are lots of places with castles or ruins on the mountains, these are often lit up at night, so I use this set up to get pictures from the valley.
