I went to a house concert Sunday to see Barbara Payton. She's toured with Bob Seger, Kid Rock..., & you've seen her here before.

If you're not familiar with house concerts, see the links here in the thread about the opening band:
The Phil Treais Group

Good news about basement concerts: You can get very close!
Bad news: Your elbow is usually in conflict with someone's ear!

On with the show: The group in close quarters.

2. Barbara with Chris Brantley. Geeez! Why didn't I move a little bit more to the left? Maybe someone was sitting there.

3. Chris Brantley is well known in the area & sometimes plays with Mich Ryder & the Detroit Wheels.

I think the images rock. Never heard of her so I did a search and really enjoyed what I heard. Glad she's from Michigan. I'm hoping to get into the studio with my Christian band come this Spring. Thanks for sharing.

I just got my first pair of glasses that I didn't think I needed. I apologize to anybody in the past year that I said their pictures were out of focus lol.

Pretty good set from the tight basement...
Each pic stands well on it's own, making for a strong set.

Good luck with that!

I was kind of fun since I wasn't used to being able to get that close!

Thanks for the comments.

1,7 and 8 look very nice to me.

Afterthought: #7 was with my head almost buried in a speaker. I've got to remember my hearing protection next time!

I just finished a poster from that night:

Real nice poster Frank... Any particular software you used, that we don't know about?

Thanks! I'm using an ancient copy of PS7.

Making this got me motivated to make a few more of other bands I've shot if you'd like to see them. I'll be posting them all in a few minutes.

I learned that lesson shooting video at the Palace. I didn't expect to have to put my ear next to the speaker to get the angle for shot #7, though. Basic protection is now permanently in my case now. ;)

I forgot this:

i did puzzle like that. took me hours

It can be tough to get the images to work together. The whole thing took 5 hours & a big part of that was spent scratching my head & looking for images to put in the spots that were left after the first few were placed.

A few "posters" of bands from the last year.

Yup, same hear. Beats shooting single handedly, with the other hand covering an ear

My experience exactly. I've done a few basic collages, and the biggest part of the work *by far* is selecting the images, and see what goes where...

That took about 2 days (after initial selection was done!), the actual creating of 13 collages was a few hours. (Drag and drop into a fixed "template"). For those interested: Click. (external link)

Heads up! For anyone interested, I've just learned that she'll be performing with Kid Rock at the Inaugural Youth Ball that President Obama will be attending. They will be doing about 4 songs acoustically and one of them is suppose to air on MTV between 9-11pm.

fixed "template"

Those look good, René. Having a template to work with would help with a consistent "look", too.
