Actually, a 20th-year re-affirmation ceremony. :)

At the end, we had some fun with the car. This is the shot that made me get the Ranger - not enough power to underexpose the surroundings the way I would have liked! We did a whole series of these, even taking the car down to the beach. Unfortunately, they will all have to be worked on to get the results that I was after. The Ranger should save me that headache next time I attempt something like this... :)

Continuing from this thread i'm not sure why this event made you get the ranger... the only one where flash was applicable was the last, the background and subject are both fairly underexposed, just open up the aperture a bit and let some more light in and you're good.

Can't do that if I want to underexpose the background, Tim. I needed more power from the flash, not less. :) I also wanted a different modifier to light the car better, but had to use the flash naked because it was already at full power...

I guess that's a style thing, to me the background is already too underexposed. But yeah to get a diffuser on a bigger light is needed. Fairly poor expression from her anyway, i'd have chucked it unless it was significant to them for some reason.

What's her expression have to do with the way I want to have this exposed, Tim? ???

I did, and you chose to discuss my recent Ranger purchase, so we were discussing exposure. Interesting that you chose to comment on the photo after that and not in the beginning...

And yes, her expression is deliberate, she is posing, after all. :)

Wow, well I'm no light expert, but I think her expression is just fine, I rather like that it seems suiting given the pose and the vehicle to the rear. I like the style of these....great :)

I dont see any problem with the expression, for some people thats just who they are. I wish my wedding photographer was more like you, of all the proofs I was sent I didnt see a single one that showed me having fun. No bunny ears, or group captain poses or any of the things I remember enjoying so much at my wedding. All just straight boring posing with posed smiles. Seems too many photogs are more interested in portfolio shots than delivering and capturing the essence of the people.

I like the look PP style of these, I just wish I could see the people a little bit more.
