My friend is single mom looking to buy a P&S mainly to take pictures of her baby. I dont know too much about these types of cameras and am trying to help her out. She would not be able to afford the latest and greatest, and I would think it to be smart to stay away from any new hip style that could up the price without adding any other benefit than looking "cool". My thought is to help her find a camera that will take good quality pictures of her child that she can remember without having to spend more money than she needs.

Your help is appreciated...and im open minded to any camera manufacturer.

We need to know the dollar amount that she is willing to pay...like is $200 too much? that will help us narrow it down.

I think under $200 would be a pretty fair guesstimation.

Canon a590 is a pretty decent little camera and should be quite a bit less then 200 hundred dollars.

I recently bought an a590 at Amazon.com for $113. It's a great camera and highly rated. Here's the amazon link: http://www.amazon.com …ics&qid=1228248501&sr=8-1 (external link)

By the way they're offering two day delivery for free. No tax.
