well im not anti nikon... or sigma... never used tamron but if a good lens reached my hands im sure id use it too...

main reason i have canon right now is that 11 years ago i bought a canon eos 500 35mm system on the advice of a camera shop that it was the more comprehensive system of the day and was currently leading the market... and the price was right

i dont really like the controls on the nikon dslr but im sure if that was what i had id soon get used to it

photography is about the photographer, the camera equipment is just the medium. its like being against synthetic paint brushes and pro animal bristle... - as if it makes any real difference to the quality of the art

I've had one Canon filter and regularly advise people not to make that mistake again. I've also had lenses by Sigma, Tamron, VIvitar and Tokina that I wouldn't part with.

I agree with Wool - many of the people who come here and slam their Canon gear are guilty of not having done their research before buying. Most of us will accept a well-presented case for a gear problem, and support the party involved. But if someone comes on and complains that Canons suck because they zoom wide to tele by twisting the ring clockwise instead of CCW or some other such trivia, they deserve all the scorn they get.

I started out with the Canon A1, used that for years before switching to NIKON. I then used NIKON for years until Canon finally looked good digitally and I sold my Nikon F3 and F4 to get the Canon Rebel.

Since then I have upgraded to 20D, 40D and 50D but my lenses make it tough to go Nikon even though Nikon is looking good again!

52 mm Sky 1A? It's, aside from the name stencilled (and coming off) on the side, identical to a Quantaray 52 mm Sky 1A I also possess. Don't ask!

Currently I have seven Canon cameras (four digital, three film). The camera I use most is my Olympus.

My name is Lonnie, but I answer to Thomas too.

I got my Rebel because, in my price range, it was between the Nikon D40 and the Rebel XT. After using the D40 and the XT (through friends) and doing research online I decided the XT was a much better choice, and bought it.

I use what fits my needs...I've tried other brands, but for one reason or another they don't work for me. If the day comes that some other brand meets my needs, then I have no problem jumping ship.

Personally, I would never jump ship. I can't swim all that well.
