In the other two blurb books I've made, I used their layouts. When I previewed those books at 100%, I didn't notice anything pixelating on preview. They printed well. I've just started designing layouts for my 3rd book, this time my own full PS designs.
I have created a full page layout that follows their size specifications exactly. It fits their space exactly with no cropping. It is saved as a level 12 JPG. Obviously, it's perfectly crisp and sharp inside PS when viewed at 100% (and variations of). No, nothing has been upsized. It's not my image that's pixelated. When I view my layout in preview mode in the blurb software, it's pixelating at all preview sizes:
![]() | HTTP response: 404 | MIME changed to 'text/html' | Byte size: ZERO |
For those who have used blurb's software with your own text-based JPGs, is this expected? Are they simply using a small version of the image for the preview? I'm assuming that's what's happening and they'll print the full size file as uploaded in the actual book, but before I spend considerable time designing layouts, it would be nice to know that others have experienced the pixelating I'm seeing.
