Hey POTN,

I have found myself in a pickle right now.

I have been saving some money for quite some time now, which was initially going to go towards some work on my car, but I have been bitten by the upgrade bug and am definitely going to get a new body. Only problem is, I can't decide.

Right now I am shooting with a 1D Mk. I and really like it. The only thing, though, is that the semi-poor performance at higher ISO's has been causing me a few headaches recently.

I was pretty much set on buying a used 10D/20D and converting it for IR because I absolutely love shooting B/W photos. It was something I was planning on doing some time ago, but the purchase never really happened. Now, with the 5D II having been released, the prices of the 5D have gone down and this has really peaked my interest. I have been weighing what I would gain with the 5D over my 1D and the benefits seem worth the money to me. The higher MP count, better performance at higher ISO's, larger LCD, FF sensor (I mainly shoot wide angle), etc. are all things that make the difference appear to be worth it.

So, I can either buy a used 10D/20D and convert it for IR, or I can sell my 1D and make up the difference with the money I have been saving and make the jump to FF with the 5D.

Anybody have any suggestions? All comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks

Kyle

I have a 300d IR camera which is great, but would prefer a 5D ;)

Some IR shots taken with converted 300D :-

Thanks for the reply. I'm still undecided

Anybody else want to chime in?
