As shot and Desaturated, Which?

I often find myself liking the desaturated look. I wonder if others do as well. Which do you think is better. Other comments welcomed as well. Thanks.

Thanks all, in most cases I'm finding I really like a portrait with this look and most seem to agree. I know I get more positive comments when folks see the pictures like this.

i agree, i think in this case it helps bring the focus back to his face rather than the vivid colors of his hat and shirt.

I like #1 but would like to see a better job on color and white balance.

I like number two the best .. mostly because you lose the shadow given from his hat more. I personally love the antique look. I think it brings your eyes away from the colors and more to his eyes. What a cutie :)

I dont think its a fair play for the colored image because its dark and not color corrected, if you lighten it and and correct the colors I thiink a lot more people would like the first better. (by the way I like the desaturated look better :))
